In a wet and at times windy game at Kyeemagh on Saturday night, the Sutherland Seahawks extended their winning streak to 6 games for 2014 by defeating the Central Coast 54-6.
Getting up early on the scoreboard allowed for many players to get extensive game time. Back up Quarterback Justin Whiting led the team in passing for the game, adding 2 more scores on the ground. Running Back Zac Nichols had his first 2 TD game whilst Josh Hayward had the team’s first kickoff return touchdown of the year.
Rover Jarrad Atkins was everywhere. He co-led the tackle count once again, adding 3 Pass Break ups, 2 sacks and an interception on a point after touchdown taken back for 2 points. Rookie players have been tremendous in the value they have added to the team in 2014. 3 of the top 4 on the team tackle count are in their first season
The half time score was 26-6 when Hayward took the kickoff back for 6 points, Whiting’s scores on the ground and pass to Tight end Jesse McPhee kept the score board ticking whilst to their credit the Sharks ran contemporary systems that suited their player base, albeit not backed by a very big roster.
The competition takes a week off for the holiday period and the Seahawks will play the North West Sydney Panthers on April 26th at 5,30pm at Craik Park, Austral.
